‘Black Soil’ comes from Gamilaraay Country which is at the top of NSW. The black soil there is one of the richest agricultural soils in Australia. It also has strong cultural connections with our ceremonies taking place on it, my family is buried in it and now I paint it with each element that makes it home. I come from a strong matriarchal line which is shown in this painting.
