Story

This painting represents the land of my Grandfather, my father’s father. The three brown sections depict the salt plains in the desert behind Yakanarra. The black sections are the ‘living water’ that stays beneath the land.

As for my Grandfather, he was living in the bush as a nomad and this land was his playground. This painting shows my Grandfather’s country as when he was a boy (he knew it as the country of his heart). He is now resting in peace, but before he died, he told me his Land Story.
